Dear Parents, Caregivers & Whānau,

Welcome, Nau mai, Haere mai! hello, As-salām ‘alaykum, Namaste, Nǐ hǎo, Chào bạn, Musta, Noa’ia, Hola, Mauri, Ni sa bula vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Tālofa, Mālō e lelei, Mālō nī, Talofa lava, and Kia orana.

ALERT LEVEL 4: Updates for Week 6 (week beginning 30 August). Latest news indicates that we will be remaining in Level 4 potentially until the 10th September (still to be confirmed, but advised as likely by the Prime Minister today).

DIGITAL LEARNING FROM HOME: We hope tamariki and whānau are settling into a routine this week and accessing learning online with minimal difficulties.

This is a short update from our last newsletter:

From Monday new learning will be posted online for students. A reminder there is a lot of learning available and we encourage you to explore the most relevant learning for your children. Each team has selected a range of learning opportunities across the curriculum. You may also feel like exploring some of the learning at other levels of the school as well, we are happy for you to do this. Next week we have a more deliberate differentiation of learning. We will also have more videos for students to watch to support them in maths and science.

Please visit the Puhinui Website https://www.puhinui.school.nz/. From Week 6 (30th of August),  teachers will begin assigning learning to particular groups of students. Teachers are preparing next week’s work now. Our teams will also begin preparations for mathematic and science based videos for learning in Week 6 as well. Please keep an eye out for Mr Read’s STEM tasks as he begins posting these online.

Please note the Ministry of Education (MOE) also has a learning from home website that you are able to access. The MOE have worked hard on this platform and there are a number of really interesting tasks now available to students at https://learningfromhome.govt.nz/resources

TEACHER ONLY DAY (TOD): Parents please be aware that we had planned for a teachers only day on Friday 3rd September. It will be postponed. This TOD was for the teaching staff to renew their first aid practical certificates. We will be arranging a make up time. We will advise you of any new dates for a TOD.

Thank you parents, we hope you and your whānau stay safe. We can’t wait to see you back at school when the alert levels allow. Please note we will send messages and newsletters out each week, especially if we have any significant updates that will affect learning for students. These will be posted on our school website so please check the website regularly.
