In the event of your child being absent, a note, text, email (using the form below) or phone contact must be made by the parent/caregiver in order to explain their absence. We are required, by law, to maintain accurate records of a student’s attendance.
These records are audited by the Ministry of Education, with the expectation that they are accurate and complete. In the event of an unexplained absence, a process will be instigated to establish valid reasons for the absence.
This may include:
- A letter home sent home asking for an explanation.
- Telephone contact.
- Referral to a truancy officer.
It is in the best interests of all parties that the school is informed if a child is or is going to be absent from school for any reason.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring your child attends school punctually and regularly.
